I found a record of a marriage betweeen I.C. ASHTON and an
Etha Linda MICHEL on Aug 2, 1837 in Washtenaw County, MI. I have
never seen the name Etha Linda before and my GGGGrandmother,
whose maiden name was MARY L. ASHTON, named her daughter,
ETHALINDA NILES. I am sure the possibility that these people
may be related to my MARY L. ASHTON is great, but I know
nothing about them. Can anyone supply me with further information
about them? Thank you for any help. UPDATE: 30 Jun 1997---I have
found a possible missing link in my family tree. In the LDS
microfiche records, I found an I.C. ASHTON who married an ETHA LINDA
MICHELS in Washtenaw county in approx 1834. No other information
was given and it is important for me to learn anything I can about
these two people. I believe they may have moved to New York,
Cattaraugus county, sometime prior to 1841, but I have not been
able to locate them. Can anyone shed a ray of light on these
people or their families.

John BLUM of Bavaria came to the U.S. ca. 1850 and settled in Washtenaw Co., MI. He married Barbara MOCK at the Zion Lutheran Church. They lived in Ann Arbor at Packard & 5th St. where Mr. BLUM worked as a stone mason. They had 13 children. On 25 Apr 1876 he sold his Ann Arbor home where he had been working as a stone mason and moved his family to a 40 acre farm in York township at what is now Judd Rd. in Saline. Barbara died 16 May 1894 and is buried at Forest Hill Cem. along with her husband whose death followed on 27 Mar 1899. In the interment records at Forest Hill Cemetery where she is buried, Barbara is listed as the daughter of Michael & Margaret MOGK. I would be interested to hear from anyone doing research on the MOGK/MOCK family in the hope that I might be able to determine the names of Barbars's parents and any siblings who might have settled in the area with her.
